Development for South East Europe (CeGD) would
kindly like to invite you to the 13th Bled
Forum on Europe – Beyond Smart, Inclusive and
Sustainable. The event will take place
at Golf hotel Bled in Bled, Slovenia from
March 29th to March 30th 2012.
We believe that Europe could offer much more than
just 2020 Agenda objectives, namely Smart, Inclusive
and Sustainable. At the challenging year of 2012 we
would like to show the way forward for Europe.
The main objectives of 13th Bled Forum on
Europe are
1. to present social and economic challenges of
today … and interact;
2. to present new development concepts and industry
service solutions … and interact;
3. to design project initiatives;
& to have an impact on future developments
of society, economy, business, NGOs and research
agendas. |

12th Bled forum on Europe
on Governance of Fear and Prosperity successfully concluded
Bled, Slovenija, 3rd - 4th March 2011

The aim of the
international conference 12th Bled Forum on Europe
was to identify through foresight analysis number of
key future challenges on Governance of Fear and
Prosperity, while focusing on the region of the
Western Balkans. The conference was of particular
interest to individuals and organizations interested
in case studies of good practice and efficient
policy implementation.
The international conference brought together
representatives of the private sector, governments,
researchers and civil society to openly debate on
the topic. As has become customary over the last 10
years, this year’s conference hosted a number of
prominent experts and international researchers.

12th Bled Forum on Europe
award for Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed

The Futures Committee of Bled
Forum selected Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) for the eGovernment
Authority of Kingdom of Bahrain to get an award in
respect to the theme of the 12th Bled Forum on
Europe, namely Governance of Fear and
Prosperity.
Blaž Golob, director of Center for
e-Governance Development and the founder of
Bled Forum said: “Under his leadership he brings
about prosperity for the citizens of Bahrain and
paves the way for the citizens inclusion and usage
of eGovernment services. Mohamed Ali is recognized
as a highly distinguished practitioner and achiever
in the field of eGovernment for his active roles
within various government entities in the field of
Information Technology in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”
The argumentation of the award
stated that with the support of Mr. Al Qaed Kingdom
of Bahrain managed to introduce more than 200
eServices for its citizens. There was a special care
given to individual that are lacking knowledge or
means to use the eServices. Using eKiosk together
with support centers are an important building block
of eGovernance of kingdom of Bahrain. Mr. Al Qaed
helped the Kingdom of Bahrain rank 13th globally,
3rd position in Asia and the first position amongst
the Arab counties in the UN eGovernment Development
Index 2010.

10th Bled Forum
on Europe Foresight Conference
and Foresight Training Seminar for participants from the
South East Europe (SEE) region.
The theme of
this year’s conference was "The Role of Culture in
Knowledge Society, Contribution to the European Year of
Creativity and Innovation 2009".
