Bled Forum on Europe is a regional scientific event (initiated in 1996) involving NGO's, governmental institutions and business sector.

Main topics of Bled Forum are the challenges Europe is facing today, the role of EU in the world, human rights, the rule of law and socio-economic development. According to changing topics and issues addressed by Bled Forum also involvement of partners varied from 1996 till present.

Since 2006 Bled Forum on Europe is registered as Research Association according to Slovenian law on associations.

Overview

Bled Forum on Europe is a regional scientific event (initiated in 1996) involving NGO's governmental institutions and business sector. Main topics of the Bled Forum on Europe are the challenges Europe is facing today, the role of EU in the world, the challenges to its internal integration dynamics as well as its impact on regional development. It is organised by the Bled Forum Research Association and covers fields of European and foresight studies with an aim of anticipating and influence the future development of the EU and its role in global and regional context. Vision of the association is reflected in the guiding statement “SOL OMNIBUS LUCET / Sun shines for everyone”, which stressed the equality between all the people independent from their national, cultural, religion or other differences.

With Bled Forum on Europe events the organisers want to contribute to the future development of European studies and foresight research with the aim to develop the scientific capacities for both fields in countries where the development of the field is only at the beginning. The aim of events is also to provide a platform for extensive exchange of experiences and practices of European studies and foresight research and policy making. Bled Forum on Europe also facilitates the integration of different regional and national centres into a coherent and cooperative matching point. Therefore the aim of the Bled Forum on Europe is to establish synergies between existing knowledge and capacities as well as help to develop new capacities.


Opening of the VII. Bled Forumon Europe

According to changing topics and issues addressed by Bled Forum on Europe also involvement of partners varied from 1996 on. Partners of last (VII. Bled forum on Europe) with the title “Foresight Conference on Global & European & Regional Governance” were Slovenian Research Agency, Austrian Science and Research Liaison Office Ljubljana, AC UNU Millenium Project, European Commission / IPTS, UNESCO.

Membership

Bled Forum on Europe Association has three types of members, namely: a) honorary members, b) full members and c) associate members.

Honorary members
Honorary members are experts and eminent academics from the field of Bled forum on Europe association's work and are because of that of great importance for the association. They actively participate in the process of shaping association's programmatic activities.

Full members
Are members, signing a membership form, and who agree that they accept the statutes of the Bled forum on Europe association, mission and vision of the association and are willing to actively participate in the work of association.

Associated members
Associated members are members who do not want to actively participate in the work of Bled forum on Europe association, but they would like to be informed about the work of association and planned projects. They receive information about planned activities, but they do not have a right to participate actively in the agenda setting process.
